VISIT TO MICRÓPOLIX

We´re going to tell you about the fantastic excursion to Micrópolix that all of the 3rd and 4th Primary Year groups went on, on the 26th May.
Micrópolix is a city in miniature, where children can spend one day living like grown up citizens.
We left the Colegio Emilio Ferreiro in two buses and one minibus at 9:30 in the morning because it is quite far away, in San Sebastian de los Reyes which is in the north of Madrid. There was a big traffic jam on the road, but we still arrived at 10:30 which was the opening time.
We waited in the queue while the teachers were getting the tickets and then we went inside. Each of us had a passport and a bracelet with the name of our school, in case we got lost. We were explained the rules that we had to follow and if we did not respect them we would get a fine.
We went upstairs to leave our bags with our food in a locker that was closed so that no-one could open them and then we were scattered around the different rooms.
Our teachers gave each of us a map where we had marked the places we wanted to visit. There were at least 28 different activities and it was impossible to go to all of them, so we had to choose.
Each activity lasted 20 minutes. The rooms have a clock on the door which tells how much time is left for the next visit. If there is a big queue you can choose to go to another room that has not got a big queue or that is due to finish soon.
For working in each activity you are paid some money in Eurix, Micropolix`s currency and you get your passport stamped.
Most of the boys liked the Driving School (Autoescuela), it was fun to drive and you could get a mock driving licence.
Then there was the History time walk (Pasarela de la Historia). They dressed you as Cleopatra, Napoleón or Neanderthal man.
In the library we had to carry out an investigation following the clues that we were given to solve the mystery. We also recycled paper in the Recycling Centre (Central de Reciclaje)
Many boys and girls went to take care of the babies in the nursery and to take care and see radiographies in the Hospital.
The supermarket looked like a real one. We could buy and sell goods and pretend that we were the check-out staff.
Local Police patrolled to see if anyone was throwing things on the floor, or running. If so, they would issue a fine which we had to pay in Eurix.
At 1 o’clock we were called to have our lunch. We went to our lockers, which were opened by our teachers, and each of us took our bags and we headed to the designated dining room. There were at least three dining rooms as we were not on our own……There were other schools too.
ReplyDeleteAfter having lunch, we carried on visiting different activities. Some of us went to the Council and nominated a Mayor and Town Councillors to form a local government.
Only some of us could participate In the Tower Challenge (Desafío de la Torre) as you have to be over 1.35 metres tall. It was a climbing wall with ropes, very exciting!
Most of us went to the Disco to dance for a while. Others went to the TV show and they saw how the cameras worked. Others went to the radio show and others to the Newspaper office.
We learnt how to put fuel in the cars at the petrol station and how to measure the air in the wheels and check the oil level. We also learnt how to do an urgent delivery (Transporte Urgente)
It was very difficult to get in the aviation school (Escuela de Aviación). The queues were enormous!!!!
There were so many things to do and all of them were so much fun. We wanted to do so many more things but at 3 o´clock they called us to gather together and pick up our bags. We lined up and when it was our turn, at 3.30 we left and walked down the road to our buses.
We got back to school at 4.20. Most of our parents were waiting to take us home. Others went to their extra curricular activities within the school.
It was an unforgettable day, one that all of us would like to repeat.
We wholeheartedly recommend you visit this amazing place. You´d have an amazing time. If you were to go next year, we could return too, and spend the day there together. That would be great!
